eZ Conference 2010 - What's new?

This year's meet up of the eZ ecosystem took place in the wonderful city of Berlin. Three days full of sharing experiences, learning about the future of eZ Publish and discussing new features and implementations. The talks were held on the three different tracks of Digital Media, Web Content Management and Community. Here I would like to briefly summarise the most important announcements.

In 2006 the eZ Publish developers were planning the migration to PHP5. This effort was combined with further modularization. Generic "building blocks" were defined that should later form the basis of the new eZ Publish. All of these programs called "Components" had some equivalent in the "old" eZ Publish. And they are impressively stable and practically useful, as they resume the functional tradition of their their ancestors, which have provided tons of examples, test cases and best practices over the years...

Die jährliche eZ Conference ist das wichtigste Event im eZ-Ökosystem. Sie richtet sich an Entwickler und Kunden, die sich für den Einsatz von eZ Publish, eZ Flow, eZ Find, eZ Components oder PHP-Lösungen für den Enterprise-Bereich interessieren. Dieses Jahr findet die Konferenz in Paris statt, der thematischer Schwerpunkt liegt auf Digital Media Publishing. Weil YMC hier einen Branchenfokus hat, sind wir 2009 einer der beiden Hauptsponsoren.

Als Dienstleister in der Medienbranche kennen wir uns mit Enten aus. Gestern gegen Feierabend kam eine vorbei.

Das diesjährige Developertreffen des eZ Ecosystem fand am 29. und 30. Januar in der Barcelona Chamber of Commerce in Barcelona statt. Neben spannenden Updates aus der eZ Publish Entwicklung in den eZ Labs liessen sich die Kernentwickler der eZ Components nicht nehmen, eine kleine Einleitung in den Einsatz der Komponenten MvcTools, WebDAV und Document zu geben. Paul Borgermans, Head of Development in den eZ Labs gab einen Ausblick auf kommende Features in eZ Publish 4 mit dem Fokus auf eZ Find und dem neuen Online Editor, der auf TinyMCE basiert. eZ Find 2.0 eZ Find ist ein enterprise-ready Plugin für...

Among the projects are a social mediainfrastructure for Swiss Television SF and the two Swiss online radio websites DRS Virus and DRS Pirando. Since 2005, YMC has developed various social media extensions for eZ Publish and made use of code contributed by the eZ Publish community.
